Frequently Asked Questions
Does a reporting or pre-registration terminal cost extra?
Currently, a back-office reporting or pre-registration terminal does not count as another terminal. Terminals that check-in or check-out visitors count as terminals and need to be licensed.
What is the eVisitor privacy policy?
We value your privacy. We do not share your information with any outside organizations. eVisitor privacy follows THRESHOLD’s privacy policy.
If I don’t have the computer hardware I need to run eVisitor, can you sell it to me?
No, we do not sell computers.
eVisitor computer requirements are as follows:
- Windows Computer: eVisitor runs on Windows only. Recommended specs include a supported Windows version, Intel or AMD processor (i3 or above), 8GB RAM, and a Full HD monitor.
- For eVisitor Kiosk: A Windows tablet with a touch screen (such as a Microsoft Surface Pro) with Intel or AMD processor is required. Tablet not included.
- ARM-based processors like Snapdragon do not work with label printers.
- eVisitor cannot be installed on Windows S Mode. Users must switch out of S Mode before installation.
- Internet Connection: 5 MB or higher recommended for smooth operation.
What data is being read from a visitor’s license?
We store minimal data: First Name, Last Name, Photo (with a 2-sided photo driver’s license reader), State, and an encrypted driver’s license number. The license number is irreversibly encrypted. Visitors can also manually type their information if preferred.
Can I upload my list of visitors or parents into eVisitor?
Yes, we can pre-load a list for you. Contact us at 800-243-1969 ext. 388 for assistance.
Does the yearly fee cover maintenance and upgrades?
The yearly fee includes all software upgrades and support.
Is there any limit to how much visitor data can be stored?
Data is kept for one year by default and can be downloaded at any time. After year two, older data must be purged, but you can export it to Excel or PDF beforehand. Contact us for assistance.
Is there a self sign-in option for visitors?
Yes, eVisitor Kiosk packages allow self check-in. Options include wired or wireless printers.
Does eVisitor run on a tablet?
Yes, eVisitor runs on Windows tablets, including Microsoft Surface devices.
Does the system integrate with meeting management software?
No, eVisitor does not currently integrate with meeting management systems. Support for “Meetings or Special Events” may be added in the future.
Can I run eVisitor in Windows with S Mode?
No. eVisitor cannot be installed on a Windows computer in S Mode. S Mode only allows apps from the Microsoft Store. Users must switch out of S Mode to install eVisitor. Once switched, it cannot be reverted back.
